Cleaning and Caring for Plumbing Fixtures Supply Stops Supply stops are the small valves under every sink and behind every toilet. These valves are usually kept in an 'open' position. Because they are not used often, the washers can become brittle. As a result, when they are turned off (usually to allow for servicing) they will drip, and small black specks may flow from the faucet. Sometimes these can clog the spout aerator. To prevent this, turn the stops OFF and ON every few months. Go back to Care and Installation |
